Helena, Mountain Guardian Form (With Raziel)

another reference pose from Karbo, that guy does some of the best stuff I've ever seen, I wonder if he'd let me draw Helena here fighting with his character Crisis if I asked him...

*ahem* back to the deviation at hand. I realize I've posted something with Helena already without giving proper background for her character, this deviation's description will fix that.

(If these names are bad or used elsewhere keep in mind I came up with them a LONG time ago, and may be open to change)

    Helena was born in the far north, in the small village at the base of the Unclaimed Mountain to her mother Penelope(who remains in the village) and her father Korro, who acts as the Guardian of Memories, overseeing an ancient and mysterious tomb in a high-up mountain cave with his only daughter. her time in the frozen north has given her a natural resistance to the cold, and amplified by her unique aura, Helena is virtually unaffected by low temperatures, and even travels through the snow barefoot comfortably. the symbol on her shoulder is of an ancient guardian order, her father Korro and herself the last remaining members, and the 8-pointed star symbol can be found in the wall carvings of the tomb itself. 

    though her father prefers to stay and guard the Tomb's entrance, the magical mana-lock being quite beyond his capabilities as a mage, Helena, being exceptionally bored in their lonely post, had found out how the ancient mechanism worked, but she found out it required two people to fully unlock. that being said, she had to peak her father's reluctant curiosity of just what he had been guarding for most of his life in order to convince him to help her open the Tomb's entrance. Once inside, they discovered a vast catacombs, supply store, and odd library, with a strange energy emanating from a pedestal in it's center.  Cautiously choosing to stay away from the eerie structure, Korro studied the history in the catacombs, while Helena decided to study the ancient library. in the coming months since they managed to gain access to the tomb, Helena had poured over tome after tome, eventually decrypting the ancient languages, doing so being an entertaining hobby of hers, along with training martial arts from scrolls given to her by her mother. she read books on all subjects, education, romance, economics, combat, 'proper' behavior, combat, and finally, magic.

    as the elemental specialties and disciplines are taught from one generation to the next personally, there were an absence of manuals on the subject. However, many specific tricks and spells that were too complicated to improvise were recorded for study in the ancient tomes, and Helena tested out a few that she did not deem too dangerous, fascinated by the application of the strange, living silver energy from within her. Eventually, she grew quite fond of matter manipulation and amplification spells, such as growing and shrinking objects or creatures. having no other animals in the harsh climate to test the spells on, she had to use the spells on herself to test their effectiveness, and the results were... interesting. at first she thought she had misdirected the spell, making the room, and her clothes, shrink around her, but as her head hit the ceiling with a bang, her father rushed in to investigate, and she quickly realized she had grown to fit the room! she panicked, punching a decent dent in the ancient stone walls by mistake, and was suddenly overcome by a feeling of exhaustion. her aura had been steadily draining to maintain this new form, and after a half-minute had gone almost completely. collapsing onto the stone floor, she shrank back to her original size at her father's feet. 

    after the first 'incident' in the library, (though no equipment was harmed, Korro had relocked the door mechanism, preferring she not deal with such odd and dangerous ancient magic) she had to cast spacial enchantments on a specific set of clothing she had sewn in her spare time (plus a little pair of stone castle towers she had constructed) to fit her enlarged form, for she entirely planned to cast that spell on herself again, hoping to master the strange ability. (much to her father's dismay) after constant casting, Helena began to steadily maintain this powerful new shape, even training her martial arts in it, deeming it the 'Mountain Guardian Form' in hopes that she could make a difference in the world, perhaps protecting people like the ancient heroes she had read so much about.

PERSONALITY NOTES

- Helena is extremely shy, having lived in a mountain cave for most of her life, she had little exposure to social interaction. this sometimes leads to her being taken advantage of by those more clever or aggressive than herself.

- Helena's normal size is actually quite tall among other girls, and is referred to as her 'Dormant' form.

- she is actually quite a bit more, ehm, busty, than in this image, I just didn't do it correctly. when done correctly, she probably has the largest chest of all my current characters, actually...

- when Matthias and Larissa journey to the Tomb to meet Korro and explore the place, Korro insists that they take Helena back to WolfKrone with them, saying she did not deserve to live in a tomb, at least not while she was so young. he wanted her to have fun, make friends, and see the world in her youth, before coming back to guard the tomb when she felt it was right. (Korro may also come for a visit to WolfKrone to check on her, by the way)

- I assume it doesn't need to be said, but she is in her Mountain Guardian Form for this image, sometimes abbreviated 'MGF' for future reference.

- she is often confused by rude or vulgar behavior, as it contradicts the 'proper' behavior guidelines she has read about, and does not understand why people don't act as they are meant to.

- she tends to be a last-ditch option for large combat efforts, as she can easily 'stomp out' a small army, if you catch my meaning. plus martial arts experience makes her extra deadly. (imagine punching a siege tower and shattering it) be glad shes on our side, eh?

- Raziel is with her as he tends to flirt with her a little, and who knows, she may like him back a bit.
